Coros offers its Vertix outdoor watch in a new 2S version

A specialist in connected watches for athletes, and particularly those who train outdoors, Coros offers its Vertix 2, just over two years old, in a 2S version. A refresh more than a redesign, since this “outdoor” watch retains the essentials of its predecessor.

Despite a slightly revised design, notably with the integration of a matte bezel replacing the shiny bezel of the Vertix 2, the Vertix 2S is almost identical. It therefore offers a fairly imposing format of 50.3 x 50.3 x 16 mm for 87 grams (i.e. 2 grams less than the Vertix 2) and retains a touch LCD screen of 280 x 280 pixels, in color, and protected by a sapphire crystal. The case, which remains waterproof to 10 ATM, is accompanied by a bracelet still 26 mm wide, which has various sensors, including a thermometer, an electrocardiogram sensor, an optical pulse oximeter, in addition to the heart rate monitor and barometric altimeter . On the location side (dual frequency), we find GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou and QZSS technologies.

If there are new features to look for in the Vertix 2S, it is precisely in its sensors. Coros announces that it has renewed them, including “the most accurate wrist-based heart rate sensor”. These new capabilities, accompanied by a software update concerning in particular the improvement of GPS monitoring of climbing (also available on the Vertix 2), are not without influencing the autonomy of the device. While the Vertix 2 announced up to 127 hours of use in standard GPS mode and 43 days in daily use, the Vertix 2 goes to 118 hours and 40 days. Enough to use it without too much fear of running out of fuel.

Coros is now offering the Vertix 2S for sale, accompanied by silicone and nylon straps, at a price of €699, a price similar to that of the Vertix 2 at its launch. Enough to compete with Fenix-type models offered by its direct competitor on the watch market outdoorGarmin.
