How does the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 fit in our long-distance journey exercise? This is what we are going to see today, on our two reference routes, simulating both summer and winter holidays. What if Škoda’s electric had a nice surprise in store for us?

Long trips by electric car are always a source of concern, and for good reason: the charging stations are not as well distributed over the territory as one might wish, and not all are equal in power or ease of use. use. Thus, electric vehicles can be excellent for everyday use, but hold unpleasant surprises during holiday trips.

Our series of long journeys crossing France is therefore there to help you see more clearly about the best-cut vehicles on the market, so that you arrive safely, and if possible without breaking the bank. Today we’re focusing on the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60, an electric SUV with a — you guessed it — coupé profile.

We apply the usual rules for this exercise, namely: the start will be at 100% battery, the finish at 20% and the vehicle will have to drive at the limit speeds. After returning to the promises of the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 in terms of autonomy and charging power, we will plan the journeys to check what it is reasonable to expect from this electric car when crossing the Hexagon.

The characteristics of the Škoda Enyaq Coupe iV 60

The Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 has a useful 58 kWh battery, and has a WLTP range of up to 408 kilometers. Its maximum fast-charging power thanks to its CCS combo socket is 120 kW, which may seem low compared to some fast-charging champions.

However, it is worth remembering that its battery is relatively small (less than 60 kWh), which ensures filling up to 80% quite quickly on long journeys. We will use all of the charging networks available along the major routes taken when planning the journeys, in particular Ionity, the Tesla Superchargers open to all and even the Kallista Energy terminal in Normandy.

The reference route planner, A Better Route Planner, is used to plan journeys, with the default reference consumption recorded on the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60.

Route planning

In order to respect the imposed rules of the exercise, we start trips at 100% battery, considering that you have to pay for this filling at the average price per kWh in France, currently at 0.17 euros. The 58 kWh of the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 then cost 10 euros. We will take this cost into account when taking stock of each major journey.

The first big trip will simulate a summer vacation from Orleans to Arcachon (530 kilometers). The winter route will start in Caen and end in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (850 kilometers).

For the summer route, the parameters shown in A Better Route Planner are as follows: 25 degrees Celsius outside temperature, no wind, arrival at a charging station with 10% battery remaining and arrival at destination at 20%. For the winter trip, it’s essentially the same, apart from the weather, where we chose a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius.

If the best electric vehicles in this exercise manage to make the journey on a single small charge, this is not the case with the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 as you can imagine. With a WLTP range well below the 530 kilometers of our summer trip, no doubt several charges will be necessary.

According to A Better Route Planner, to arrive at your destination with 20% battery remaining, you must charge three times on Ionity terminals. In total, 42 minutes went on to load, at a cost of around 48 euros.

By including the starting load at home, we obtain a total cost of 58 euros for this summer trip. The estimated consumption is 208 Wh/km, which corresponds to a autonomy of 280 kilometers with the battery of the Škoda Enyaq Coupe iV 60 full.

20 minutes charge every 150 kilometers

With an outside temperature of 0 degrees, the batteries of electric vehicles are put to the test: not only consumption soars, but also fast charging performance can be degraded. The Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 does quite well here, since these are five refills for a total duration of one hour and 46 minutes which are necessary to reach Haute-Savoie from Caen.

On average, it takes twenty minutes charge every 150 kilometers in these conditions, where the expected average consumption reaches 228 Wh/km. This corresponds to 250 kilometers of autonomy.

All five charges last between 14 and 29 minutes, which shows the relative speed with which the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 charges. At Ionity, Tesla and Kallista Energy, the cost is around 108 euros for the entire journey. Adding the starting home load, we get a price of 118 euros in total for this winter journey.

We summarize the costs and charging times (including home charging at 10 euros) in the table below. As we go through our examples, you will be able to see where the vehicle you are interested in is positioned in relation to the others on a similar journey.

Conclusion

Long trips by electric car are generally more expensive than everyday trips, there is no doubt. The Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 is no exception to the rule, since our summer trip has a cost per 100 kilometers of around 11 euros, compared to 13.90 euros per 100 kilometers for the winter trip.

As a reminder, on the move and in fast charging, the costs are about four to five times higher than at home. However, even in the pessimistic case of the winter journey, the cost is comparable to a thermal car which consumes around 7 liters per 100 kilometres.

It is important to keep in mind that the rest of the year, driving a Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 will rather cost two to three euros for 100 kilometersa far lower price than any gasoline-powered vehicle.

That being said, compared to other electric vehicles in the same segment, the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 is rather well placed in terms of costs, since it is less expensive when traveling than the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Hyundai Kona 64 kWh , the Kia EV6 or the Renault Mégane e-tech EV60.

Regarding the charging time, it does not really have to be ashamed of its low maximum power, since it manages to match the Kia EV6 58 kWh on the winter journey, while the latter displays a faster load on the paper.

Overall, despite its battery of only 58 kWh, the Škoda Enyaq Coupé iV 60 is a good electric car to cut the road. Knowing that there is a version equipped with a 77 kWh battery (more expensive, inevitably), do not worry: if you like the Enyaq and want to be reassured about its ability to cut the road, it is the case.
