Coups in Mondsee – tools were too expensive, so they were stolen

The motive was simple and moving: the tool was too expensive. So two Mondseers stole it from a local hardware store. And the police were already waiting for the duo when they wanted to empty the booty hiding places again.

The two Mondseers – 27 and 39 years old – are said to have stolen high-quality electrical, garden and hand tools from a local hardware store on April 28, 2022 and April 29, 2022 in Mondsee. An attentive customer of a hardware store discovered electrical appliances and hand tools in plant troughs outside and informed the store management, who alerted the police. The two suspects each went through the store with their own shopping trolley and loaded high-quality electrical appliances and hand tools. The previously scouted hiding place in the outdoor area of ​​the DIY store was filled with the selected goods in the shopping trolley. Crawling under the fence Later in the evening on April 29, 2022, the two drove to Mondsee and parked their car in a parking lot near the DIY store. The 27-year-old walked across a meadow to the fenced-in company premises and crawled under the chain-link fence. During the surveillance measures, the 27-year-old was caught in the act of removing the deposited tools and arrested by the police officers from the State Criminal Police Office. Further thefts confessed. The 39-year-old, who was waiting in his car not far from the hardware store, was arrested at the same time. Both perpetrators confessed; also to a similar burglary at another hardware store on April 28, 2022. The two stated that the motive for the crime was that the high-quality tool would have been too expensive for them to buy. One of the two perpetrators also testified that he had already committed several shoplifting of tools in the past. Some of this loot was secured. The two suspects were reported. Some of the stolen property captured on April 28, 2022 was also secured.
