As France learns to live under a vaccine pass, other countries are lifting anti-Covid restrictions. In Israel, the “green passport” is no longer required in cafes, restaurants, bars, gyms or hotels and is only requested for “high-risk events”, since Sunday. This country, a pioneer in vaccination, was however not spared by the wave of omicron. Professor of Immunology Cyrille Cohen, also a member of the Advisory Council on clinical trials of vaccines against Covid-19, explains to Release the situation in his country.
What is the status of the outbreak and restrictions in Israel?
A drop in contamination has been underway for a little over a week. Hospitalizations and serious cases have stabilized and it is hoped that they will begin to decline. It must be said, omicron kills, it’s not a cold. We are at hospitalization rates already achieved previously but, at the time, it was with generalized confinement and much fewer cases.
