Season 4 of “Criminal Tropics” ended with a drama on France 2: Crivelli was shot dead. Will she die? Béatrice de la Boulaye returns to this shock scene, originally planned three years ago, and teases season 5.
A dramatic turn in Criminal Tropics: the finale of the unpublished season 4, broadcast this Friday June 30 at 9:10 p.m. on France 2, ended in blood for one of the two heroines of the police series shot under the sun of the Martinique.
In the very last minutes of the episode, after solving the investigation of the week on the background of MMA with Melissa Sainte-Rose (Sonia Rolland), Gaëlle Crivelli (Béatrice de la Boulaye) leaves the police station to go home. her when a man driving a scooter, whose face is concealed by a helmet, slows down not far from the investigator and shoots her.
Hit in the abdomen, Crivelli collapses on the ground and begins to lose consciousness. Under the cries of Sainte-Rose and their colleagues, who rush to his side.
Béatrice de la Boulaye, the interpreter of Crivelli, confided in our microphone about this shock cliffhanger, which was originally supposed to happen much earlier in the series, and what awaits us in season 5.
A very difficult scene to play… already shot for the first time three years ago!
“In fact, they had reserved this for me for four years (laughs)”explains Béatrice de la Boulaye when asked how she reacted when she learned what the authors had planned for her character at the end of season 4.
“Season 1 was supposed to end like this, and I think it was the channel that said it was too soon. To retain people, we couldn’t tell them that they might lose one characters. We had to soften things up a bit. So I had already shot it and I hadn’t enjoyed it too much (laughs)”.
“It’s funny because even for the team it was difficult”continues Béatrice de la Boulaye. “Someone needed to shoot me, it was already someone on a scooter, masked, so it could be anyone among our managers. But no one wanted to do it (laughs). We had already spent a season together, we all loved each other too much. Nobody wanted to get on the scooter and shoot me. Finally an extra was kind enough, he was teased by everyone, it was quite funny”.
The authors therefore waited a few seasons before resurrecting this plot in the scenario of Criminal Tropics. And, once again, the filming of this sequence was not a cakewalk for the main interested party.
“It then came back in the pipes in season 3 and finally they kept it for season 4”explains Béatrice de la Boulaye. “So we had to turn it all around. This moment was not at all pleasant. And besides, I’m not alone. In season 1, Crivelli was alone at a red light when she was initially shot. But there, to hear the very sincere screams of Sonia, of Julien Beramis, of the whole brigade, it was quite a thrilling moment”.
“Does it refer to difficult Parisian events that we all remember? The killings, the shootings, these are things that we have all been through lately, so having to fictionalize it is a bit complicated”.
Will Crivelli die? Béatrice de la Boulaye reassures the fans
If the last episode of season 4 of Criminal Tropics, broadcast this evening, leaves doubt as to the survival of Gaëlle Crivelli, that the fans are reassured, the teammate of Sainte-Rose will come out of it since Béatrice de la Boulaye has been shooting season 5 in Martinique for several weeks with its playing partners.
And even if we will have to wait until next year to discover the rest of the series on France 2, the actress has already given us some information about what awaits her character in the next episodes.

“What’s nice is that we’re going to have a hard time ‘finding’ Crivelli”reveals Béatrice de la Boulaye, who promises that the public will discover a very different Gaëlle at the start of season 5, after her gunshot wound.
“I thank the authors because they show a crazy imagination to constantly renew the series. And what’s great is that they send me 120,000 km from who Crivelli is. It’s super nice to play. There are little clues on my Instagram. It’s great because it changes her from all points of view, physically, intellectually. And it’s going to color her all season. It’s really fun, it gave a pretext for the authors to make us play something else”.
Despite her behavior which promises to be quite offbeat, will Crivelli seek to unmask the person who shot her and tried to kill her? Not necessarily.
“Gaëlle doesn’t care who shot her, because she just left in something else. And it’s finally Melissa and Aurélien who will be very diligent in the search for the killer. And that’s how they are going to re-embark Crivelli in history. Whereas she had moved on, she did not want to know”.
One thing is certain: we should not be bored when Criminal Tropics returns to France 2 in 2024.
