Separation from her husband is now official

Cristina of Spain and Iñaki Urdangarin are separated. Photos were recently published showing him with another woman.
Cristina of Spain (56) and her husband Iñaki Urdangarin (54) are no longer a couple. Days after pictures surfaced of Urdangarin holding hands with another woman, the couple officially announced their split.
The sister of King Felipe (53) and the former Spanish national handball player published a via the Spanish press agency “EFE”. joint statement. “By mutual consent, we have decided to end our marital relationship,” it said. “Our joint commitment to our children is unbroken. Since this is a private decision, we ask for the greatest possible respect on the part of the public”.
It is not known who the woman in the compromising photos from the French coastal town of Bidart, not far from the Spanish border, is. Spanish media speculate that it could be a colleague from the law firm where Urdangarin is currently working.
The next Urdangarin scandal
Due to the separation, Cristina and Urdangarin are once again making negative headlines for the Spanish royal family. Cristina of Spain and Iñaki Urdangarin met at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Urdangarin played there with the Spanish national handball team. A year later, the two married. The couple have four children together.
