Felix Magath has criticized the balance of power in football. “Of course we no longer have competition. The big players like FC Bayern in Germany basically determine the whole business with their money, and everyone else follows behind,” said the former professional, manager and coach of the “Hamburger Abendblatt”.
Above all, the 69-year-old denounced the different economic conditions. “They get at least 100 million euros more every year than almost all teams. Yes, where should there be a competition? Where should someone have the chance to keep up? That’s not possible! We only distribute from the bottom up,” said Magath.
The former international has not yet finished his coaching career. Magath: “I still believe I can help a football club. If someone shares this opinion, I’m always willing to talk. I’m not done yet.” Most recently, in the 2021/22 season, he held Hertha BSC in the relegation against his parent club Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga.
