Cyril Lignac: his moving confidences on the death of his mother

And if he is always in a good mood on the screen, it turns out that in 2014, a tragedy left him inconsolable: the death of his mother, Janine Gazeau. I couldn’t do more than I did“, admitted Cyril Lignac, who “thanks life, because, when she was sick, she said: ‘I’m going to Paris to get treatment'”, he remembers, he who kept the last SMS she sent him. “So what’s great about my misfortune is that I spent the last six months of her life with her”, he confided, explaining that he had then become “like a little boy”, enjoying every moment during those six months, which were the last of his mother, but the first of his “first life” to him. “I called her saying: ‘Mom, I’m not going home to eat tonight’. She answered me: ‘But Cyril, you’re at home, you do as you want’. I had found this cocoon”, he remembered, moved.

Cyril Lignac: “We never get over it”

Six magnificent months for Cyril Lignac, which ended when Janine Gazeau breathed her last in 2014. Since then, nothing has ever been the same for the Chef and acolyte of Mercotte, who admits that he has not since succeeded in doing mourning for his mother. We hit where it could hurt the most. And that, we never recover from it, in fact. (…) So time heals the wounds and it makes you grow. I have passed into adulthood, in fact. I was a kid before, and I came back as an adult”, he thus explained, then being definitely no longer the little boy he was with his mother, who “missing terribly”.
