Danny Masterson: The Roaring Seventies star is back in court

Danny Masterson has returned to court for the first time since June 2020 to answer rape allegations.

Along with Harvey Weinstein (68) and Kevin Spacey (61), he is one of the most prominent men against whom serious allegations are made in the course of the #MeToo movement. Danny Masterson (44), star of sitcoms like "The Wild Seventies", is said to have raped three women between 2001 and 2003. For the first time since June this year, the actor and his lawyer returned to court in Los Angeles to prove his alleged innocence.

In addition to some supporters of the star, who apparently wrongly see him in the dock, "King of Queens" actress Leah Remini (50) was also at the hearing, according to the "New York Post". She has spoken out against Masterson many times in the past, who – unlike Remini – is said to be still an influential member of Scientology.

The verdict is due to fall in October

According to the report, a verdict is expected at Masterson's next court hearing on October 19. On the part of his legal counsel there is a positive opinion that the actor will then be rehabilitated as a free man: "We are confident that he will be exonerated when all the evidence finally comes to light and witnesses have the opportunity to testify," said attorney Tom Mesereau quoted.

Masterson was arrested in June 2020 and released a little later on payment of a bail of a rumored 3.3 million US dollars (about 2.9 million euros). The allegations of rape in three cases came up in 2017 after the alleged victims in the #MeToo upheaval finally dared to go public with their allegations. Masterson then lost his role in the Netflix series "The Ranch" with Ashton Kutcher (42).
