A motherboard
“hybrid” which could help the transition between the two generations of DDR where it will be marketed.

Last November, Intel launched its 12and generation of processors with Alder Lake, chips capable of supporting the latest DDR5 as well as the older DDR4. Problem, the motherboards require them to make the choice.

DDR4-3200 and DDR5-4800

On the one hand, we therefore find ourselves with motherboards in DDR4 and others in DDR5 depending on the budget. The Chinese ONDA is the first manufacturer to offer a “hybrid” motherboard that accepts both generations of RAM without any problems.

Its H610M+ is a micro-ATX model whose main characteristic is therefore to have a DIMM slot for DDR4-3200 and a second slot for DDR5-4800. Of course, however, the two ports cannot work simultaneously and neither is it possible to enjoy the dual-channel.

Given ONDA’s notoriety, it is almost certain that this motherboard will never be distributed in France. Still, it’s a low-budget solution capable of smoothly upgrading the platform by reusing DDR4 before, perhaps, opting for DDR5.
