dead space is a cult game for all lovers of survival horror and science fiction, and it will be back at the end of the month with a remake. The game is inspired by movies like Event Horizon, the ship from beyondand many fans are hoping for a film adaptation of the gameEA Games.
About ten years ago, director John Carpenter admitted that he would like to take care of this adaptation, remarks that were reiterated a few months ago. But even more recently, during a long interview with varietythe master of horror returned to these statements: words of a video game enthusiast, but according to his information, an adaptation project would already be underway, without him :
I can’t believe how it spread. I’m a big fan of video games, so I’ve played all the games. I was looking at the new digital cameras, RED, and I mentioned that I would like to do a Dead Space movie. It just went around, and everyone was like, “Oh, when are you going to do it? “I’m not going to do it. I think they already have another director involved. And they didn’t ask me to do it. So until someone asks me, I won’t. But there’s a new version of the Dead Space video game coming out in January, and here I am.
Big John has visibly unveiled an adaptation of dead space in the cinema before everyone else, but as always with this kind of project, it may just be thoughts in the studios before actually starting pre-production. Either way, unless there was a change, John Carpenter wouldn’t be involved, too bad the director is known for his horrific masterpieces like Halloween, fog, The Thing, New York 1997, Christina, Prince of Darkness, Los Angeles Invasionor The Den of Madness. However, his last feature films were not nearly as good and he hasn’t achieved anything for more than 10 years…
