Dead Space Remake: EA Motive says it recreated the entire game in a single sequential plan

Expected early next year on PC and consoles, Dead Space Remake hasn’t shown much to the public for a few months. Good news, failing to offer us a new livestream, the EA Motive teams published an article earlier this week allowing us to learn more about the horror game which apparently has been recreated in a single sequential shot.

A fully interconnected USG Ishimura

As explained by producer Philippe Ducharme, “We create the entire game in one sequential shot. From the moment you start the game until the moment you finish it, there are no camera cuts or loading screens, unless you die. USG Ishimura is now fully interconnected. »

“So you can walk from point A to point Z, walk around the whole ship and revisit places you’ve already explored to pick up things you might have missed – that’s all new. It is now a completely uninterrupted experience. »

Other interesting information, the creative director Roman Campos-Oriola indicates that the scenario of this remake should remain, without great surprise, faithful to that of the original title while including elements and references present in dead space 2 and 3 as well as the license comics.

“Isaac has a voice here, just like in Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3. Some characters that were a bit more secondary or only appeared in the audio logs, like Dr. Cross, we gave them some real character time. screen. We also wanted to give more background to some of the cast characters like Nicole. So we are creating a whole series of narrative side quests that will allow you to see, for example, what happened to Nicole during the epidemic. »

Finally, note that Philippe Ducharme and Roman Campos-Oriola, along with the technical director of the project David Robillard, also returned to what the use of the Frostbite engine brings to the remake.

In addition to improvements related to animations, textures, enemy behavior and lighting management, the way of moving in weightlessness has been reworked: “There is a lot more freedom in the movements in 360 degrees. Now when you play Dead Space, you really feel like you’re in space. This allows us to revisit some of the old content and create new ways to navigate, new paths and new environments with new challenges to overcome. »

Dead Space Remake will be released on January 27, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
