Expected in our theaters on July 24, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is surrounded by a host of rumors which contribute to its hype and maintain the vagueness regarding its content. But two of them would already be denied.
UPDATE (04/12/2024) – There will indeed be no X-Men reunion. Playing Jean Gray in the first three films of the saga, released between 2000 and 2006, Famke Janssen affirmed that she would not be in “Deadpool & Wolverine”.
Since the announcement of the returns of Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner as Wolverine and Elektra, or the appearance of set photos suggesting that the story would revisit the defunct Fox superheroic universe, rumors have multiplied around Deadpool 3 .
Ranging from a role for Taylor Swift to a cameo from Daniel Radcliffe, including the presence of Channing Tatum in Gambit.
And these are not the first images that made it possible to see things more clearly, seeing as Marvel takes great care to keep as many cards as possible up its sleeve. A method that has already proven itself on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022.
No X-Men reunion?
A feature film that contained fewer cameos than a handful of scoopers had announced. And we have to believe that it will be the same in Deadpool & Wolverine. According to insider Alex P. in any case, who calls on Internet users to lower their expectations in this regard.
(“So… If you’re hoping to see a reunion of the entire X-Men cast in Deadpool 3, lower your expectations to avoid being disappointed. What was initially planned will ultimately not come to fruition. There still has a lot of cool stuff, but I recommend you relax A LOT.”)
Is this necessarily bad news? As the Marvel Cinematic Universe is losing momentum, at the box office and in conversations, the temptation to maximize cameos could be great, to attract audiences to theaters. Even if it means it serves as a cover for a weaker plot.
Knowing that not everything that is announced or hoped for is true can therefore be a positive thing. And, at the same time, the CanWeGetToast account denied the fact that Kidpool, a young variant of Deadpool, would be played by Walker Scobell, who played Ryan Reynolds as a child in Adam Through Time.
Which is more a confirmation of what the main person himself suggested in December 2023 as part of the promotion of the Percy Jackson series, of which he is the hero.
The snake that bites its tail
If we will have to be patient and wait for the release (or a new trailer) to find out a little more, another question remains. And it concerns the reliability of these scoopers, the sources of which are unknown other than knowledge supposedly close to production. Which is a bit light.
Seeing them deny rumors that they themselves started is like a snake biting its own tail, so we should be vigilant about their words.
