Six suspects, “little or not known” to the justice system, were indicted as part of the investigation into the death of a father killed by a stray bullet during bursts of gunfire at a deal point of Dijon (Côte-d’Or) at the end of November, the prosecution indicated this Tuesday. Three of the six suspects were placed in pre-trial detention and three placed under judicial supervision, said the public prosecutor, Olivier Caracotch.
The six, a minor and “young adults”, “are little or not known” to the justice system. These are not “very experienced repeat offenders”, the prosecutor indicated on Monday when the suspects were referred. The indictments took place as part of an open judicial investigation, particularly for “organized gang murder” and “criminal conspiracy”, recalled the prosecutor. All the suspects “generally contested any participation in the facts”, except the minor, he said on Monday.
During the night of Saturday November 25 to Sunday November 26, bursts of gunfire targeted a deal point located at the foot of a building in the sensitive Stalingrad district, in the east of Dijon, known for violence linked to drug trafficking. A 55-year-old father, who was sleeping in his apartment located just above the deal point, was killed in his bed, probably by a stray bullet that ricocheted. Around sixty shell casings were found on site after the shooting.
Shortly after the events, the car of the alleged shooters, a stolen vehicle, was found, making it possible to make the link with another vehicle, a Volkswagen Polo, which was intercepted on Thursday at the border with Spain, with its two occupants. The latter were referred, as was the owner of this Polo, as well as another person who had used the vehicle before the shooting.
Surveillance of this Polo also made it possible to locate an apartment where a fifth person was arrested. Finally, a sixth custody was carried out: that of a minor who admitted to having stolen the vehicle used by the shooters.
