In order to select the right box, two criteria must be known: where (in which rooms or which piece of furniture) will this box be placed? And what should she put away?
If the box finds its place on a shelf, in an open bookcase, placed in a passageway room (therefore not hidden), it is rather recommended to choose a pretty box. On the contrary, if it is hidden from view, that is to say stored in a dressing room, inside a kitchen cupboard, in a laundry room or under a bed, it can simply be practical without the need with a beautiful appearance.

In a bathroom, garage or any other damp room, avoid cardboard boxes or boxes with metal parts that could rust. If you place your box high up, put light objects in it, or use a material that is not too heavy (avoid wood for example) or brittle (like glass).

Do you have many (cardboard) shoe boxes or delivery boxes? You can easily transform them into decorative storage boxes and customize them. There are several techniques available to you for this. How to decorate a small wooden decorative box?
In clearance stores, creative hobbies or very large supermarkets you will find raw wooden boxes, which can be painted or decorated. To give them an old and rustic appearance, stain them with walnut husk (be careful, it stains!), they will look older than they really are and the wood will be nourished and protected. Another tip, decorate them with (disposable) napkins printed with the pattern of your choice, with varnished glue (remove the thickness, apply a layer of glue with a brush, position the napkin, cover with glue, let dry).
