Deer on the road – Viennese trapped in a car after evasive maneuvers

A Viennese car driver was unable to get out of his vehicle on Christmas Eve after crashing into a guardrail in the Carinthian Mölltal after an evasive maneuver because of a deer. The man had to be rescued by the fire brigade and taken to hospital injured.

At around 5:50 p.m., the 40-year-old from Vienna drove on the B106, Mölltal Straße, towards Obervellach. In front of him, in the field, a deer wanted to cross the road. When trying to avoid the game, the man got off the lane, drove uncontrollably along the road shoulder for about 100 meters and rammed the guide pegs. The man hit the start of a guide rail there and then crossed onto the Guardrail hanging to a standstill. The car was so badly damaged that the Viennese could no longer get out of the car on his own.FF Obervellach freed the injuredThe FF Obervellach freed the man from the vehicle. With injuries of an indeterminate degree, he was brought to the Spittal / Drau hospital by the ambulance service.
