(AOF) – According to information from La Tribune citing “concordant sources”, Saudi Arabia is giving Dassault Aviation until November 10 to make a costed proposal for the purchase of 54 French “Rafale” combat aircraft. . On the stock market, the aircraft manufacturer gained 1.43% to 184.70 euros. Such a success “would be resounding” for the Rafale, notes La Tribune, according to which the Saudi air force rather favors the American F-15 or the Eurofighter Typhoon manufactured by a consortium including Germany, the United Kingdom United, Italy and Spain.
According to La Tribune, Paris and Dassault Aviation fear that the Rafale will play “the role of the hare” for the benefit of the Typhoon or even the F15. The reason ? For around ten years, a second Typhoon order from Riyadh (48 aircraft) has been awaited by London, which obtained agreement from the Saudis in 2018.
Saudi Arabia has reportedly had a strong interest in this French combat aircraft for several years and this has been strengthened since the announcement of the contract for 80 Rafale F4s awarded by the United Arab Emirates.
The United Arab Emirates then signed an agreement to acquire 80 Rafale in December 2021. This was then a historic order for the country on the Arabian Peninsula.
