The trial relates in particular to physical violence, blows with a fly swatter, a total absence of signs of affection, and even a system of deprivation. Student in boarding school, when she returned to spend the weekends with her parents, she was locked in her room permanently, with the exception of meal times that she took alone, or gardening chores. The parents justified this by saying that she was “stealing”. The larceny in question: a Laughing Cow cheese in the fridge. Moreover, the little girl was deprived of Christmas gifts, her parents believing that she “did not deserve them”. It was the little girl herself who sounded the alarm, confiding in the boarding school staff. She was immediately placed in a homepending the end of the trial, which she insisted on attending.

Parents condemned to heal and “improve”

What probably shocked the court the most was the attitude of the parents, showing no remorse and especially the father. The latter, a psychomotrician by profession, testified that he himself had been the victim of a “breach of trust” by his daughter after the theft of cheese. And he told investigators a educational notebook that he kept since the birth of his daughter to justify his actions. His words, which were read in part during the hearing, are of a very cold cruelty. The latter affirms that his daughter is a “perverse delinquent” when she was 8 years old, that he “don’t want to see or hear her anymore” when she was only 2 years old. The parents have been sentenced to suspended prison terms 18 months for the father, 9 months for the mother with obligations of psychiatric care and obligation to compensate their daughter.
