Despite forest fires – Salzburgers took off into chaos on Saturday

A Flachgau family from Bürmoos went to an alternative hotel as soon as they arrived because of the forest fires on Rhodes. The annoyance of not being informed by the tour operator Tui about the conditions on the island is completely incomprehensible for Petra Stern and her family. A Salzburg FPÖ spokesman was lucky and came back on Sunday.

Not all Rhodes vacationers are as lucky as Dom Kamper. The spokesman for Deputy Governor Marlene Svazek (FPÖ) was able to fly back to Salzburg on Sunday as planned and without any problems. But after their arrival, the vacationer and his partner still had the acrid smell of burning in their noses. “We had a hotel in Lachania about 15 minutes south of the crisis region. This was converted into an evacuation hotel on our last night on site. Up to 300 people camped in and around the building,” Kamper told the “Krone”. He talked about children who slept on beach loungers and fathers who, for lack of alternatives, slept on bare concrete. “We’re back healthy, but chaos broke out on Rhodes.” Another woman from Salzburg, however, no longer understands the world: “We flew from Salzburg to Rhodes on Saturday. Nobody warned us about Tui. On the plane it was announced that the weather on the island was great. This is madness. On Rhodes we went straight to an alternative hotel in Rhodes – to the conference room in the basement.” Since then, Petra Stern (33), her husband and daughter Magdalena (3) have had to share a room with another family in the hotel. “We just want to go home. But we don’t get any information on how to do that,” the mother from Bürmoos foams. The next flights away from Salzburg on Tuesday and Thursday are only there to bring guests back. We have set up a telephone team and collect all possible information. We informed the customers on Saturday that canceling the trip made the most sense.”
