Biden will “never forget” bin Laden’s death
It took the United States ten years to track down the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks. “We followed bin Laden to the gates of hell – and we caught him,” says US President Biden on the tenth anniversary of the Al Qaeda chief’s death.
US President Joe Biden used the tenth anniversary of the killing of Al Qaeda boss Osama bin Laden to justify the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. “We will continue to monitor and eliminate every threat posed by Afghanistan,” said Biden. The news of bin Laden’s death ten years ago was a moment “that I will never forget,” stressed the president.
“We followed bin Laden to the gates of hell – and we caught him,” said Biden in a statement released by the White House. “We kept our promise to all those who lost loved ones on September 11th.” He praised then President Barack Obama for his decision in 2011 to authorize the secret operation against the al-Qaeda chief.
The terrorist group Al-Qaeda was weakened in the country in the Hindu Kush, “but the United States remains vigilant against the threat from terrorist groups,” said Biden. Biden announced last month that he would end Washington’s longest war by September 11th and withdraw all troops. Experts fear that the country could sink into chaos again without the international troops.
