Devrim Lingnau will soon appear in front of the camera as Empress Elisabeth of Austria. That's what she intends to do with the role.

A few days ago it became known that the German actress Devrim Lingnau (22) is following in the footsteps of the great Romy Schneider (1938-1982, "The Things of Life") and is creating a reinterpretation of Kaiserin for the Netflix series "The Empress" Sisi "plays. Since then she has been a woman in demand, on Instagram Lingnau said she was "very happy", with "Bild" she spoke about what she finds particularly attractive about the figure – and what she wants to do differently. These are the plans of the young screen empress.

Lingnau says that she has "a lot of respect" for taking on the famous role, but it is not about comparing it with Romy Schneider: "The attraction is more the historical figure Empress Elisabeth and her time. I am It's incredibly curious to see how this reinterpretation appeals to people and hopefully takes them away. "

The timeless topic of emancipation

In addition, as previously announced by showrunner Katharina Eyssen (37), the role should be interpreted in the light of a modern image of women. Lingnau expresses himself in the same direction: "The Sisi of the year 2021 will certainly be different from the Sissi of the 1950s . I think we need a new image of women in 2021. More realistic, more rebellious, more courageous. " Lingnau therefore believes that there is one theme that connects the old and new Empress Elisabeth: "Self-determination and emancipation never go out of style."

The six-part series about Elisabeth of Austria is entitled "The Empress". Production will begin in spring 2021, and broadcast via the streaming service is scheduled to start in spring 2022. The six episodes, directed by Katrin Gebbe (37, "Tatort") and Florian Cossen (41, "Das Lied in mir"), revolve around Sisi's first months at the Viennese court and her love story with Emperor Franz Joseph in the Netflix adaptation Philip Froissant (26) embodies.
