Dramatic scenes took place on Sunday afternoon on the Kappeler Landesstraße in Carinthia. An 89-year-old e-biker was hit and killed by a motorcyclist. The 51-year-old biker also had to be taken to hospital in Klagenfurt with serious injuries.
The 89-year-old may have been overlooked by the motorcyclist while crossing the Kappeler Landesstraße. The two vehicles then collided in the middle of the street. “Despite an attempt to avoid the collision, the motorcyclist was no longer able to avoid the collision and subsequently drove his motorcycle off the left side of the road, fell over the embankment and came to rest in the adjacent field,” says the state police headquarters. Biker injured taken to hospital An eyewitness immediately alerted the emergency services. However, the emergency doctor could only determine that the 89-year-old cyclist was dead. The 51-year-old biker also had to be treated by the emergency services and taken to the hospital in Klagenfurt. The Kappeler Landesstraße had to be closed to all traffic for the duration of the rescue and rescue measures as well as the accident recording.
