Difficult recovery – delivery truck crashed 20 meters into the forest

A delivery truck got off a road Tuesday morning in Eichberg, East Styria, in the municipality of Ebersdorf (Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district) and fell around 20 meters into a wooded ditch. The driver who had crashed was rescued and taken to the hospital.

The driver left the L 429 in the west of the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district around 5 a.m. with her van for unknown reasons. Because the scene of the accident could not be seen from the street, the Styrian had to use her mobile phone to support the state control center and the fire brigade in finding the scene of the accident.

The recovery turned out to be difficult. Several trees and rhizomes had to be removed to enable a safe rescue. The wreck was finally recovered from the trench after four hours using a cable winch and crane – the FF Eichberg and Pöllau were in action.
