After making a big splash with the Galaxy S range, Samsung is unveiling the rest of its devices in dribs and drabs. If the Galaxy A range is now complete, it is the turn of the Galaxy M to reveal themselves. The opportunity to look at the Galaxy M53, recently formalized by the South Korean. This affordable smartphone has a technical sheet very similar to that of the Galaxy A73. We find in particular a 6.7-inch Super Amoled panel displaying in Full HD + (1080 x 2408 pixels) and offering a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
Samsung has a habit of remaining discreet about the SoCs used on its entry-level and mid-range smartphones. The octa-core chip present here would be a Dimensity 900, instead of the Snapdragon 778G found in the Galaxy A73. The two chips are certainly engraved in 6 nanometers, but the second offers better general performance. In addition, that of MediaTek is limited to Wi-Fi 5 (ac). Only one RAM and storage configuration is available, in 6 GB / 128 GB. However, it is possible to expand the storage via microSD. The fingerprint reader is located on the right edge of the smartphone. We appreciate the presence of a 3.5 mm jack port.
The configuration in the photo also borrows a lot from the Galaxy A73. We note the presence of the same 108-megapixel wide-angle module whose lens opens at f / 1.8, even if the optical stabilization has been lost along the way. The sensor associated with the ultra wide-angle goes from 12 to 8 megapixels (f / 2.2). Two modules (macro and depth) of 2 megapixels each complete the whole. A 32 megapixel sensor (f / 2.2) is housed in the front punch.
This M53 is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery compatible with 25 W charging. As on the firm’s recent smartphones, the charger will not be included. It will run on Android 12 and One UI 4.1.
Samsung has not yet communicated on the availability and price of the smartphone, but we can expect it to be around 300 €.
