Disturbing disappearance of Cellya, 15 years old: what we know: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

New worrying disappearance. While investigators, and by extension the whole of France, are still trying to find out what could have happened to Lina, the 15-year-old girl missing in Alsace since September 23, 2023, a call for witnesses has just been issued concerning another young girl of the same age. Cellya Mata-Rufer, 15 years old she too, has not given any sign of life since Saturday January 6, 2024. That day, she would have gotten into a vehicle “likely to go to Perpignan”. This is what the wanted notice shared by the Gard gendarmerie on social networks indicates, the same day of the disappearance. Cellya left her home in Saint-Paulet-de-Caisson, a small town of around 1,800 inhabitants located around fifty kilometers from Avignon, around 2:30 p.m. The 1m55 teenager with long curly brown hair and brown eyes was wearing black pants and a gray sweater. Anyone with information is asked to contact the gendarmerie of Pont-Saint-Esprit, the neighboring town, at 04.66.39.10.01or to dial 17 directly.

In France, a minor disappears every 12 minutes, but 96% are found safe and sound

If Cellya’s case is qualified as “disturbing disappearance” by the Gard gendarmes, it is still possible to hope for a happy outcome. Although the chances of finding a child safe and sound diminish after 48 hours, it regularly happens that cases of missing minors end in good news after this time. Note in particular the cases of Lemis, Téah or even Margauxthree teenage girls who disappeared at the same time as Lina, all of whom were found safe and sound in the days that followed. More recently, young Léon, 9 years old, was found a few hours after his disappearance during a hike in the Pyrenees. And not to mention Alex Batty’s storythis British teenager found in France more than six years after his disappearance! While there are unfortunately cases that have remained unresolved, sometimes for years – like Mathis Jouanneau or Marion Wagon for example – most cases have a reassuring outcome. In 2022, no less than 43,202 reports were brought to the attention of law enforcement concerning disappearances of minors, i.e. one every 12 minutes. Fortunately, 96% of them were actually runaways, and the children were found safe within hours or days.
