DJI introduces the Avata, its latest FPV (First Person View) drone model, with the promise of the ultimate immersive flight experience and the ability to film and photograph with creative image quality worthy of the Mini 3 Pro .

After several weeks of rumors, DJI is finally lifting the veil on its latest drone model. Responding to the sweet name of Avata, the small DJI machine is a very compact FPV (for First Person View) drone, designed to work in conjunction with the DJI Goggles 2 control glasses and the new DJI Motion Controller.
The design of the drone is interesting. Compact, with a reduced frame and a light weight (410 g), the Avata incorporates aerodynamic propeller guards for more safety. Designed for speed and shooting, the Avata is based on a module comprising a stabilized camera with a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor of 48 MP effective, capable of producing video in 4K/60 format fps and 2.7K/50/60/100/120 fps. The battery would be able to last up to 18 min in optimal flight conditions.

The drone is piloted in association with the new DJI Goggles 2 glasses and the DJI Motion Controller, but can also be used with the existing V2 DJI FPV remote control and the V2 DJI FPV headset. The drone and goggles connect using DJI O3+ transmission ensuring precise control with ultra-low latency, detailed video feedback at 1080p/100 fps with H.265 decoding, and approx. 30 ms up to a distance of 10 km. The actual piloting is entrusted to the good care of the DJI Motion Controller. It looks like a joystick and allows you to perform all complex movements and maneuvers with one hand with disconcerting ease. We could see it during our first grip.

The Avata therefore offers a mixture of interesting techniques with both immersive and sporty flight, while making it possible to produce excellent image quality capable of being integrated into streams from photo and video oriented machines. The Avata sneaks thanks to its infrared sensing system and a dual-camera interior optics system that ensure precise hovering, as well as flying indoors and in environments where satellite navigation is unavailable. Available for pre-order on the DJI store, the DJI Avata drone is available in an autonomous version at €579 without radio control, motion controller or headset. The DJI Avata Pro-View Bundle is priced at €1429 and includes the DJI Avata, DJI Goggles 2 and DJI Motion Controller. The DJI Avata Fly Smart Bundle retails for €1149 and includes the DJI Avata, DJI FPV Goggle V2 and DJI Motion Controller. Finally, the DJI Avata Fly More kit is offered at €249. It includes two intelligent flight batteries and a charging station.
