If you grew up in the 80s/90s, enjoy alternative rock, and/or watched the movie fight club, then you must know the song “Where is my mind” by the group Pixies. The song has also been used in other films, but also in TV series, in commercials, without forgetting video games with Dark Souls 2, Uncharted 4 and more recently Cyberpunk 2077.

And as is the case with many users, you may be thinking of using the famous Pixies title as a wake-up ringtone on your smartphone. Bad idea…

Beware of your alarm on Android!

Indeed, very often, music lovers choose their favorite song as a morning alarm, but in this specific case, the choice is not the wisest. On Reddita user reported an astonishing incident, which was subsequently verified by various users.


If the latter likes to wake up with random songs programmed on his smartphone, the alarm clock strangely did not ring one morning, when the latter was configured with the song of the group Pixies.

And there is a very simple explanation for all this: Frank Black, the singer of the group, shouts “Stop! at the beginning of the song, which has the immediate effect of disabling the alarm on Google Pixel smartphones.

Indeed, in English-speaking territories, the words “stop” and “snooze” allow you to stop or delay an alarm on a Google smartphone. For its part, the group Pixies wanted to react on Twitter, citing an article signed AndroidPolicewith the mention : ” sorry for that “.
