Monday, at the end of the day, the deputies will vote on a new motion of censure tabled by the Nupes, the 17th against Elisabeth Borne and her government. But once again, this one has little chance of passing, because the LR deputies should not vote for it, just like certain members of the Liot group.
This Monday, June 12 will perhaps mark the end of the battle for pensions in the National Assembly. The deputies will vote, from 4 p.m., on a motion of censure tabled by Nupes. The Liot group and the right will not vote for it. The National Rally agrees on the contrary to join its voices to those of the left. Can the government be overthrown?
This 17ᵉ motion of censure presented against the government of Elisabeth Borne should be a new blow in the water. Even if the deputies of the National Rally will vote for the text tabled by the Nupes, this alliance of circumstance should not bring together the votes necessary to overthrow the Prime Minister.
Little concern from the government side
It is again the Republican deputies who find themselves in the role of arbiter. But they should be very few to support the motion of no confidence from the left. “The favorable votes of the LRs will be counted on the fingers of one hand”, predicts a group executive. As a reminder, on March 21, they had been 19 to vote the censure of the government, missing nine votes close to bringing down the team of Elisabeth Borne.
But this time, the new text should not give the Prime Minister too many cold sweats. Especially since some elected Liot may not support it, the centrist group having chosen not to co-sign the motion while leaving the freedom to vote to its members.
