Dogecoin (DOGE) unveils its roadmap and new projects

After eight years of existence, Dogecoin (DOGE) has finally presented a development roadmap with new projects.

Dogecoin’s first roadmap has been revealed by its lead developer, Shibetoshi Nakamoto. It includes several projects that the team responsible for the network plans to carry out in the coming months.

Born from a simple joke in 2013, DOGE has gathered hundreds of followers and investors over the past few months, including big names like Elon Musk, Mark Cuban and Gene Simmons. Today, by announcing this roadmap, the project becomes much more than a simple meme-coin.

New projects underway

Dogecoin’s roadmap features eight new projects, the first of which is a complete overhaul of its official website. The latter will include a new section called “Dogepedia”, which will offer educational content on the cryptocurrency market and on DOGE, as well as a question-and-answer section. The new website is expected to launch from January 2022.

Other interesting projects include Libdogecoin, a library of Dogecoin protocols, which developers can use to integrate the crypto-meme into their applications and systems. Not to mention GigaWallet, an open source API solution that will allow you to perform DOGE transactions on payment platforms.

According to the roadmap, GigaWallet could accelerate the adoption of DOGE as a payment method among merchants around the world. In addition, it should make the asset available in Play to Earn games and on social media platforms.

The Dogecoin roadmap also includes a cryptocurrency staking project and a service dubbed RadioDoge, which will allow users to access radio nodes remotely.

In addition to the aforementioned projects, a developer revealed on Twitter that Dogecoin may be able to create non-fungible tokens (NFTs), at much lower fees than seen on other blockchains.

Dogecoin still belongs to the community

Tweets and comments from Elon Musk and other celebrities certainly had a positive effect on the price of DOGE. However, the crypto-memes community remains largely responsible for its growth in adoption and its price, which climbed more than 7,000% in 2021.

During the year, DOGE supporters and investors staged several class actions on the Reddit forums. They have sent several petitions to large companies and exchanges to include DOGE. They also created a global day called “DOGE Day” to celebrate the asset.

This new roadmap highlights that Dogecoin will always be a community project, despite the existence of a team working on new features.

Developers will be responsible for maintaining the blockchain, not governance decisions: “Dogecoin is yours,” the roadmap says.
