Dolly Parton
US singer supplied with "own" corona vaccine
Country legend Dolly Parton received her corona vaccination. The special thing about it: She was involved in the development of the Moderna vaccine.
The American country legend Dolly Parton (75) was vaccinated against Corona. She shared an almost four-minute video on her Twitter account of the appointment at a clinic in the US state of Tennessee and wrote: "Dolly received a dose of her own medicine." Last year, the singer donated one million US dollars (around 800,000 euros) to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
In the video, the visibly good-humored Parton also urges her fans to do the same. "One poke in the arm and we're a bit closer to normal, whatever that is," says Parton and performs her biggest hit "Jolene" with slightly different text: "Vaccine. I'm begging of you please don't hesitate! " (To German "Vaccine. I beg you, do not hesitate!")
The hospital group Vanderbilt developed and researched together with the biotechnology company Moderna the mRNA vaccine of the same name, which has now also been injected into Parton's right upper arm. "I'm a very proud girl today," Parton told the BBC in the fall. She was excited to learn that the Moderna vaccine was highly effective in the studies. It is great that all of this will help "get through this crazy pandemic."
