If we recently shared with you the work of a YouTuber who managed to transform a Wii into a Mac Mini, we now invite you to discover an unofficial version of the PS5. A version so small that it can be stored… in a backpack!
A PS5 Slim that struggles to convince?
Officially available for a few days in France, the new version of the PlayStation 5 has been blowing hot and cold since its announcement last October. If it is intended to be relatively smaller than the original model, its design and its matte/glossy appearance leave many people perplexed.
Furthermore, remember that the removable drive requires an internet connection the first time you connect, including when the console is reset to factory settings.
Many users seemed to be hoping for more effort from Sony when it came to slimming down its console. This is particularly the case of the YouTube channel Not From Concentrate, which quickly armed itself with its best tools to make a PS5 even thinner than the Slim model.
First of all, let us point out that this is indeed a unique model and that it is obviously not intended for possible commercialization.
PS5 Tiny: how to push the limits of miniaturization
In this video (see below), the videographer from the NFC YouTube channel explains to us how he managed to give birth to the one he called “PS5 Tiny”. And the least we can say is that the result is truly impressive!
First of all, the Youtuber chose to design the disk drive as an external unit. Using a 3D printer and his know-how, he was able to put together a perfectly functional PS5 model and significantly smaller than the Slim model distributed by Sony.
If the videographer who loves new technologies was able to keep some of the original components of the PS5, he was nevertheless forced to replace others, particularly with regard to the power supply and the cooling system of the machine. In any case, the result gives rise to a console that is much thinner, and above all considerably lower than the original model, marketed in 2020.
