The enthusiasts of Doom are always going to more trouble to bring the cult game to the most improbable (and unplayable) media. Today, we offer you the Christmas ball version! What do you think ?

This is not a simple port here, but a creation from A to Z!

doom in the tree

It will soon be faster to answer the question “on what Doom NOT listed” rather than listing what the game was ported to. After a connected fridge, a pregnancy test, or more recently Windows Notepad, this time it’s time for the Christmas ball.

More exactly, it is a miniature replica of an IBM PC in which an ESP32 microcontroller is hidden. Rather than just pasting a static image of doom, the creator Sprite_tm (of which this is not the first creation) has therefore installed the entire FPS from id Software. The latter then automatically displays its demo on a 0.96 inch screen.

A playable Christmas ball!

But the strongest thing is that it’s not just about decoration. By coupling a Bluetooth device (gamepad or keyboard), the game is (of course!) playable. Provided you have good eyes of course, while the sound part has not been forgotten with the presence of a speaker, still miniature. Everything is powered by a cell
Li-Ion.

For the most curious, motivated and equipped, the creator of this little marvel has listed all the technical details there is to know about its creation on a dedicated site. Detailed plans, 3D model, firmware… all that’s missing is your talent and the necessary equipment. Merry Christmas with the Slayer!
