We just learned some exciting information about the new Dragon Ball game, and that might mean that it will be released sooner than expected. We won’t say no.
Finally, the next big Dragon Ball game got a first trailer worthy of the name. It’s the return of the franchise with an opus called Sparking Zero (formerly Budokai Tenkaichi 4). The first images are absolutely crazy, and we just want to get our hands on it. Unfortunately, no luck for us, there is no release date to get our teeth into yet. So, when is it due? 2025? Well, everything suggests that it will happen sooner than you might think.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, quite a project
This new title from the cult license has been the subject of numerous rumors. Are we going to be dealing with a reboot? How big will the roster be? This is the type of questioning that we could hear in the community. But above all, we wanted to know its release date. However, the trailer revealed during the Game Awards 2023 did not give us an answer, not even a window. On the other hand, we still learned new information about Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.
Our colleagues at IGN had the opportunity to interview Jun Furutani, producer at Spike Chunsoft, the studio behind the game. During the article, we noted an interesting detail: this Dragon Ball has been in development for 5 years, this which means that the developers have been working on it since – at least – 2018. This is a rather impressive figure for a game of the genre where the process is normally rather accelerated. Afterwards, that doesn’t mean that the firm worked hard on the title all these years. We are even sure of it, since it has released other games in the meantime.
However, work has been going on for so long that we can wonder if Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will not arrive sooner than expected. Five years is a long time, and who knows, maybe Spike Chunsoft is just putting the finishing touches on the game. Are we going to get a surprise announcement in the coming weeks? We’re going to avoid getting ahead of ourselves for the moment, but it smells pretty good.
A massive game
So it’s been in development for quite a while, which would also explain the “incredible” number of playable characters described by Bandai Namco. In any case, we must expect a completely crazy Dragon Ball, and above all, oh so immersive. Just read what the producer said to make your mouth water: “ when someone crashes through a rock or building [après une attaque], this happens in real time.
