Dramatic corona development
Bavaria declares another disaster

In Germany, nine of the ten districts with the highest seven-day incidence are in Bavaria. The hospital traffic light has now also turned red. The result: In the Free State, the disaster will apply again from tomorrow.

In view of the dramatically increasing number of corona infections, Bavaria is again declaring a nationwide disaster. The State Chancellery in Munich announced that due to “the current worrying situation in the corona pandemic, Prime Minister Markus Söder ordered the disaster to be identified from tomorrow, November 11, 2021”. Söder had previously announced this at a meeting of the CSU parliamentary group.

The Ministry of the Interior will promptly issue a corresponding announcement. The determination of the disaster enables a coordinated and structured approach by all authorities, agencies and organizations involved in disaster control. The disaster in the corona pandemic was declared on December 9, 2020, and was not lifted again until June 4, 2021.

The corona infection process is currently developing very dynamically in Bavaria, according to the state chancellery. The seven-day incidence reached new highs every day. “At the same time, the occupancy of hospital beds, especially intensive care beds, with Covid-19 patients continues to rise. In many hospitals there is already no or very little capacity available.” This increases the need for coordination in the occupancy of intensive care beds and the transfer of patients from overloaded clinics. “The corona pandemic endangers the life and health of a large number of people in the entire state of Bavaria.”

Bavaria is particularly badly affected by the current corona wave. Nine of the ten districts in Germany with the highest seven-day incidence are in Bavaria. The Rottal-Inn district is ahead with 1104.3 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week. “The numbers are just so high and we don’t know why,” said a spokeswoman for the district office in Pfarrkirchen. For the whole of Bavaria, the seven-day incidence on today’s Wednesday was 395.8. For people, this means much stricter protective measures. On Monday, the hospital traffic light in the Free State jumped to red: More than 600 people were treated for a Covid 19 disease in the intensive care units.
