Drôme: a young woman tries to set herself on fire in a gas station

A 30-year-old tried to end her life by setting her car on fire. Rescued by witnesses and firefighters, she was rushed to hospital.

Monday January 24, around 7 p.m., a 35-year-old young woman tried to end her life by setting herself on fire in Étoile-sur-Rhône (Drôme), according to information from France Bleu Drôme, confirmed by Le Figaro. Arrested at a gas station, the 30-year-old allegedly doused her car with gasoline before setting it on fire.

Seeing the vehicle in flames, several witnesses rushed to the level of the station to come to the aid of the victim and extract him from his car. “Very badly burned“, the young woman was quickly taken care of by the firefighters, indicates France Bleu Drôme. “She was transported in absolute urgency to the Valence hospital center“, specifies the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of the Drôme at Figaro. Given the severity of his burns, the victim could be redirected to hospitals better able to treat severe burns, such as Marseille or Lyon.

SDIS 26 also confirms that 17 firefighters from Valence and Étoile-sur-Rhône barracks responded to the fire. The firefighters used two water nozzles to put out the flames, the stigmata of which remain visible in the photos of the service station.
