Even series that were believed to be dead live longer. In the USA, the legal series “Suits”, which ended in 2019, is currently celebrating a renaissance and is rushing from one streaming record to the next. Of course, this surprising boom did not go unnoticed and is said to have led to a lot of activity at NBC Universal. As the US industry site “Deadline” reports, “Suits” maker Aaron Korsh, 56, is already working on a new series, which, however, will neither be a sequel nor a spin-off from the original.

Rather, at least according to “Deadline,” the as-yet-unnamed project will only take place in the “Suits” universe. The extensive “CSI” franchise is used as a comparison. This includes several crime series in which different characters investigate in different locations, such as Las Vegas, Miami or New York. “Suits” also took place in the latter metropolis, and Los Angeles is now supposedly being discussed as the new location for the action.

“Suits” in a new look

The big question that all fans of “Suits” ask themselves: Will Duchess Meghan, 42, or one of the other main actors such as Patrick J. Adams, 42, or Gabriel Macht, 51, return? Of course, the makers are not yet ready to see what their cards are going to be, but it certainly doesn’t seem impossible. Even if the new “Suits” is apparently only very loosely linked to the original and therefore none of the old characters should have a leading role, there is always the possibility of various guest appearances. In the history of the “CSI” series mentioned, there have already been several crossover episodes in which the stars of the respective series paid each other a visit.

There has already been a real spin-off to “Suits”. In “Pearson,” the titular character Jessica Pearson, played by Gina Torres, 54, received her own spin-off. In contrast to the main series, however, it was not a success; after only one season and ten episodes, “Pearson” was canceled.

Duchess Meghan: From Hollywood to the royal family – and back?

Duchess Meghan was part of the series from the beginning and until the end of the seventh of nine seasons. Shortly after her character Rachel Zane’s planned departure became public in 2017, another news hit global headlines: her engagement to British Prince Harry, 39, whom she married the following year. The couple now lives in the US state of California with their two children, and the former actress is reportedly not ruling out returning to the camera.
