After just one season of their Archetypes podcast, the Sussexes and Spotify are ending their collaboration. The decision was made by mutual consent, but a look at the official website of Prince Harry, 38, and Duchess Meghan, 41, suggests otherwise. The partnership with the audio streaming service is still listed here. No wonder, since the deal meant around 20 million dollars (approx. 18 million euros) and prestige for the royal dropouts.

PR expert Kieran Elsby therefore thinks that the couple has deliberately not yet removed Spotify as a business partner from its “Archewell” website in order to land other big deals. “It’s simple: you need the connection to Spotify more than Spotify needs it. How times change,” said the marketing professional in an interview with “Mirror”. It’s important to remember that “their website serves as a showcase for their brand, and naming Spotify is important in its overall impact.” “It signals to potential brands that they want to do big business and work with global brands.”

Sad prognosis for the Sussexes

In order to remain relevant, however, the Sussexes would have to develop a new game plan, advises the managing director of “Media Global PR”. “I think they need to rethink their strategy and come up with a new branding plan to secure their revenue. They seem to be thinking very short-term, quick deals, high prices with little longevity or real content,” he said. “These offers will expire soon.”

His tip to the former actress and British prince: “You should focus on long-term deals, with real quality and depth, and if you do that, your brand can stay relevant for a longer period of time.” The parents of two would have to reposition themselves if they want to continue to attract an audience. However, Elsby’s prediction for the future of the Sussexes does not sound very promising. “The truth is, the question is, ‘What can you offer in 5-10 years?’ I’d say not much as it stands, but if they regroup and stop focusing on making a quick buck, they might have something to offer in the future.”
