Duchess Meghan has stopped her popular Spotify podcast Archetypes after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Break for the “Archetypes” podcast by Duchess Meghan (41): After the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), there will be no new episodes for the time being. On the podcast’s Spotify page it says since Monday (12.9.) under “Information”: “New episodes of ‘Archetypes’ will pause during the official mourning period for Her Majesty the Queen.”

Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8th at the age of 96. The royal mourning period ends seven days after the Queen’s funeral (September 19), i.e. on September 26. The next episode could therefore probably be put online on September 27th. So “Archetypes” would pause for two weeks. However, Spotify has not yet officially announced when the podcast will continue.

Three-year exclusive podcast deal with Spotify

Duchess Meghan and her husband, Queen’s grandson Prince Harry (37), signed an $18 million three-year exclusive podcast deal with Spotify in December 2020. At the time, it was said that Meghan would speak to “historians, experts and special guests” in “Archetypes”, among other things, who should uncover the origin of prejudices and explain how they shape our culture. “It’s about how we talk about women, the words our girls are raised with and the way the media reflects us women.”

The first episode – a conversation with Meghan’s girlfriend, tennis star Serena Williams (40) – was released on August 23. The other episodes with Mariah Carey (53) and Mindy Kaling (43) were released weekly on Tuesdays. The current episode would have been released on September 13th.
