2021 will have been a prolific year for DuckDuckGo
, which will soon launch its own Windows and macOS web browser
.

The popular search engine for those concerned with protecting their private data has grown by almost 50% in just one year. An impressive figure, but which remains a drop in the bucket compared to its competitors.

Growth of almost 50% in one year

It is one of the most popular alternative search engines among internet users who want to protect their personal data. DuckDuckGo has seen significant growth in the past year with a 46% increase in searches in 2021 compared to last year. A volume that reaches 100 million searches per day, reported The Bleeping Computer.

An almost paltry figure compared to Google and its some 3.5 billion daily searches while DuckDuckGo is approaching 34.6 billion total requests in 2021, more than 11 billion more than the previous year. It is still little compared to competitors and still less than Yahoo (3.3% market share in the United States against 2.5% for DuckDuckGo), but this significant growth testifies to the interest of Internet users for the protection of their privacy.

In terms of the interface, DuckDuckGo plays the security card: it is freely inspired by the design of Google! This is pretty much the only similarity between the two US search engines. Indeed, the duck site wants to be radically anti-user registration. Since its inception, it has made a point of never recording the private data of Internet users and not targeting its results.
