Electronic Arts seems to be revising its plans in depth if recent announcements are to be believed. After the withdrawal ofApex Legends Mobilethe cancellation of Battlefield Mobile and the postponement of Star Wars Jedi Survivorit seems that the firm has also ended a solo game project in the universe of Titanfall and Apex Legends.
No Titanfall 3 on the horizon?
According to three sources from Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, EA has just purely and simply canceled a single-player game taking place in the Titanfall and Apex Legends universe, the title codenamed “Titanfall Legends”. The editor would have made this decision yesterday by announcing it to the team of 50 people who worked on the project for some time at Respawn Entertainment. Also according to Bloomberg, EA will try to reintegrate part of the team within the company, however those who cannot be will unfortunately be dismissed.
Although the license titanfall did not have the expected success at the time, that of the Battle Royale, Apex Legends, gave fans high hopes for a return of the FPS given that these two franchises share the same universe. Is it now too late for a comeback that could benefit from the aura ofApex Legends (originally released in 2019) ? He had however been more or less teased thanks to job offers, but especially by Mohammad Alavi (former creative director at Respawn) shortly after his departure from the studio in 2021. Insider Jeff Grubb had also spoken of a solo FPS based on style and mobility. It would therefore seem that it was the famous “Titanfall Legends”.
Difficult to know what Electronic Arts has in mind despite a year 2023 which promises to be quite rich for the publisher. The very good feedback from the remake of dead space, Wild Heartstheir future hunting game in collaboration with Koei Tecmo, and of course Star Wars Jedi Survivor should help restore the image of the company with the players. In any case, we hope that Titanfall will manage to rise from these ashes in one way or another.
