Easter in the corona crisis: suggestions and tips

Easter holiday canceled, visiting relatives is out of the question, churches are closed and Easter fires are also falling flat – what other options do we have in the corona crisis to celebrate Easter properly? Now not so self-pitying: of course a lot!

Easter in the corona crisis: 5 tips and suggestions

1. Make isolated relatives happy

You wanted to celebrate Easter in a larger family group, but is it falling flat due to contact restrictions and travel bans? Then simply surprise your loved ones with a small mailing! Either you pack a care package with brittle leaves etc. and you order something directly from an online retailer to their address. Since Easter is not Christmas and actually not the festival of big gifts anyway, an envelope with a handwritten letter would also be great – or with self-made pictures of the children. Then they are busy for a few hours.

2nd online fair

It's not possible to go to church, but what do we live for in the 21st century? Both Catholic and Evangelical institutions offer online services and masses that you can dial into. Perhaps that would even be a good opportunity for a change for a change – after all, we don't bother anyone when it gets too boring and we get out early … and it is certainly more comfortable on the sofa than on such a church bench.

3. Give away vouchers

Going shopping for Easter gifts has been canceled this year – well, there are vouchers for once. So we can do something good right away and support the shops in our neighborhood. We actually have a good argument for this Easter to give our loved ones a little more generously (if we can just afford it ourselves). Pro tip: You can ESPECIALLY hide vouchers …

4. Hide eggs at home

Those who are used to spending Easter on vacation or organizing an egg hunt on the playground may be surprised, but you can also hide Easter eggs at home! Yes, really, you can. Under certain circumstances, your children may even discover corners in your apartment that they have never known before: cleaning cupboard, their school bags, the floor in their children's room … To everyone who lives more in the countryside and has a garden: Do you actually feel like you do? just envy millions of city dwellers?

5. Live the Easter thought

What are we celebrating Easter again? From a church perspective, the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, right ?! And he doesn't have his life somehow for others aka sacrificed humanity or something …? Even if we are all isolated in our households: At the moment we are closer than ever. We restrict ourselves, overcome huge challenges and forego – and are there for each other. The sacrifices we are making these days are meant to save lives and will enable us all to get up together. Isn't that pretty easter …?
