ECB: key rates raised by 50 basis points

(CercleFinance.com) – At the end of its meeting, the Governing Council of the ECB decided to raise its three key interest rates by 50 basis points and, ‘in view of the substantial upward revision of inflation outlook, plans to raise them further’.

Accordingly, the interest rate for the main refinancing operations and the interest rates for the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will be increased to 2.50%, 2.75% and 2.00% respectively, with effect from 21 December 2022.

“Future policy rate decisions by the Board of Directors will continue to be data-driven and will follow a meeting-by-meeting approach,” the Frankfurt monetary institution said.
