Elden Ring: Campaign Length Revealed, NG+ and New Gameplay Passages

In addition to the announcement of the passage of Elden Ring in “Gold” and the development of the Day One patch, producer Yasuhiro Kitao also communicated on the time required to complete the game. The French translation of his remarks gives:

It’s going to be very player dependent, but the target we set during development was that the game’s main route could be completed in around 30 hours. The game itself is truly massive, and it packs dozens and dozens of additional hours of gameplay. We’re really only talking about the main story, it shouldn’t take longer than that. The Game is so vast that it is meant to be completed without necessarily experiencing everything. Some players prefer to explore and discover everything on the map the first time, while other players will leave certain areas for later cycles. Technically, it’s impossible to experience 100% of the content the first time around, as there are some branching points towards the end, but you’ll be close.

Lifespan of Elden Ring and NG+

To quote his words, so it takes about 30 hours to finish the main story, although this can vary greatly depending on your level of play and your tendency to take detours. Playing a caster class is usually a good way to speed things up, especially on bosses. Expect speed runners to get through this in a couple of hours fairly quickly.

We didn’t doubt it for a moment, but the system of NG+1 and beyond, present in all From Software games of its kind for years will therefore be present. This will increase difficulty, respawn items, and improve rewards, at least in terms of runes, at least if the usual pattern is preserved. It remains to be seen if NG+ introduces new elements as was the case in Dark Souls 2 for example, or in Sekiro with Kuro’s Talisman.

You can discover the entire interview (in Japanese) below, as well as the new gameplay passages (also present in the video at the top of the article). Most of the elements mentioned were already known.
