Elden Ring: Demon’s Souls remake puts pressure on developers

The games FromSoftware are renowned for their gameplay demanding, their lore rich, but not easy to decipher, and their careful artistic direction, immersing players in fantastic exotic universes. Corn technical side, the titles are far from graphic slaps … except the remake of Demon’s Souls.

Bluepoint Games modernized the action game brilliantly on the release of the PlayStation 5, and that’s putting pressure on FromSoftware, which is currently developing Elden ring. In an interview with Edge, Creative Director Hidetaka Miyazaki said:

I’m pretty sure our design team felt that pressure more than anyone.

Graphic fidelity is not something we prioritize. What we ask for on the graphics side depends on the systems and requirements of the game itself, and it takes less priority over other elements of development. So this is always an area where I feel a little sorry to my graphics team because I know they work extremely hard.

We already knew this after the broadcast of the various videos of gameplay, Elden ring will not be the flagship of the new generation consoles in terms of graphics, FromSoftware focuses more on creating a new universe and a gameplay which brings together mechanics from its previous productions. There where Bluepoint Games had only to take back the heart of Demon’s Souls to wear it on PS5, with thinner graphics and better framerate.

Elden Ring release date still set for February 25, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, you can pre-order it at € 64.99 on Amazon in Launch Edition.
