Elden Ring: The game team felt the pressure after seeing Demon’s Souls Remake

When it was released, Demon’s Souls Remake knew how to impress thanks to his technical mastery, with a rather remarkable visual result which partly showed the possibilities offered by the power of the PS5. Elden ring, despite the expectation that reigns around the game, has not managed to bluff us on this precise point, which may seem normal given the openness of his world compared to that of Demon’s Souls Remake. But the comparison between the two games still put pressure on the From Software teams.

The priority is elsewhere

Those Hidetaka Miyazaki which explains this in the latest issue of Edge magazine, picked up by VGC. He then explains that by seeing the technical result of Demon’s Souls Remake on PS5, the graphics team ofElden ring felt additional pressure:

Yes, I’m pretty sure our graphics team felt that pressure more than anyone. And not just with Elden Ring, but with all the games we make. Graphic fidelity is not something that is a priority for us. What we ask for on the graphics side depends on the systems and requirements of the game itself, and it takes a lower priority compared to other elements of development. So this is always an area where I feel a little sorry to my graphics team because I know they are working extremely hard. And they’ve worked extremely hard on Elden Ring – our team and programmers have put forth a lot of new features to make the most beautiful games we’ve ever made.

The comparison between the two titles will be inevitable, but you will understand, From Software was far from prioritizing the technical aspect in the creation of the game, and the studio assumes it.

Elden ring will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series starting February 25, 2022. Check out our latest preview for more details.
