Directed by Peter Sohn, to whom we owe the touching short film Passages Nuageux and Le Voyage d’Arlo, the film tells the love story between a small flame with a volcanic temperament and Flack, an aquatic.

Has Pixar already planned a sequel to this feature film?

It is not yet known if a sequel will be started and everything depends on the results of the film at the box office. However, the first version of Elementary contained a post-credits scene that hinted at a potential sequel. But the latter was ultimately removed from the final version of the script.

The website The Direct asked the film’s screenwriters John Hoberg and Kat Likkel about a sequel. As a reminder, at the end of the feature film, Flack and Flam leave Element City for Flam to follow her dream of becoming a glass sculptor.

Kat Likkel then explains: “At some point, there had to be a post-credits scene. We found Flam and Flack and they were parents of a steam baby. It was a starting point for a possible sequel and I fought for a long time so that we keep the scene. An artist had even drawn the baby, but in the end the idea was not retained.

Hoberg continues: “I think we were like, ‘Well, let’s let them go somewhere… If the audience really responds, that’ll be great.’ There’s still a lot to say because marriage is a big moment. romantic but then you have to face life together. And I think we’re all curious to see how their story unfolds.”

“I think there are potentially more stories to tell about this family and the Element City universe,” finally declares Likkel.

At the moment, we do not know if Pixar is planning a sequel to Elementary, but if the studio decides to launch the project, the second opus could allow us to discover the famous steam baby.

And as the screenwriter points out, other films whose action takes place in Element City, of which we only discover in this film a tiny part, are quite possible, like what Pixar has done. with Vice Versa 2 which will be released 8 years after the first film.

However, if the second installment does not see the light of day, Pixar could consider developing short films centered on Element City, following the example of what the studio did with Up and Carl’s tryst, visible in pre-elementary program.
