Ellen DeGeneres will end her talk show after 19 seasons. For you as a creative person, the format is “no longer a challenge”.

An era in US television is coming to an end: Ellen DeGeneres (63) will end her talk show after over 3,000 issues and 2,400 celebrity interviews. The presenter confirmed this to the “Hollywood Reporter”. The upcoming 19th season will be the last in 2022. On the end of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, she explains: “As a creative person you have to be constantly challenged – and as great as this show is and as funny as it is, it is simply no longer a challenge.” When asked about her career plans, DeGeneres, who began her entertainer career as a stand-up comedian and actress, reveals what new challenge awaits her.

According to the “Hollywood Reporter”, you should have informed your employees about the end of the show on May 11th. On May 13, DeGeneres will talk to Oprah Winfrey (67) about her goodbye on her show. As early as 2018, the presenter is said to have struggled with whether she wanted to continue the show. She signed a contract for three more seasons and is said to have already been aware that the show would end after that. The “Ellen DeGeneres Show” has delighted fans since 2003 with a mix of celebrity interviews, appearances by special talent, games and giveaways that were given to either charitable causes or the public.

Criticism from employees

There is no easy time behind the show. Last summer there were allegations of poor working conditions on the set of the show. Some employees had reported that behind the scenes of the talk show there was a “poisonous” atmosphere of fear and intimidation. The presenter then apologized on TV. “We made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter,” she told the audience at the time.
