Elton John injured his hip in a fall. The European dates of his tour must therefore be postponed.

British superstar Elton John (74) has to postpone numerous dates on his farewell tour to 2023. The singer announced this on September 16. He is said to have an operation after a fall.

“At the end of my summer break, I fell awkwardly onto a hard surface and have been in considerable pain ever since […] in my hip “, Elton John explains in a statement. Despite physiotherapy and treatment by specialists, the pain would have worsened, it says on Instagram. It is increasingly difficult for him to move.

Operation after a short appearance

The 74-year-old was advised to have an operation as soon as possible. This should help him recover faster and “long-term complications” should be excluded. He will undergo “intensive physiotherapy” which is intended to ensure “complete healing and a return to full mobility without pain”. After a short charity appearance on September 25th, he would like to have an operation. Elton John promises his fans that the wait will be worth it.

Instead of 2021, Elton John will not attend the UK and Europe dates of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour until 2023. On April 27th, 2023, it’s off to Munich. On May 8th and 5th, Hamburg will follow, on May 8th, 10th and 11th he will play in Berlin, on May 13th in Mannheim and on May 16th, 18th and 19th in Cologne. Appearances in Frankfurt and Leipzig will be made on the homepage for May 27, 2022 and May 29, 2022.
