Elton John: On a song with the Gorillaz

It is one of the most unusual collaborations in recent times: Elton John is featured on a Gorillaz song.

The Gorillaz around Damon Albarn (52) have been known for years for treading unusual paths and not allowing their creativity to be restricted by conventions. This is also proven by "The Pink Phantom", a recently released new song for which the Gorillaz collaborated with British pop legend Elton John (73) and US rapper 6lack (28).

John was evidently very pleased with the collaboration. "Damon contacted me and asked me to contribute. What became of the song in the end is simply great," the singer was quoted as saying in a press release. He has "always loved Damon because it includes so many different types of music. He has got his fingers on so many things in the game and so much, and yet he never stands still creatively." John was always a Gorillaz fan.

On October 23rd, the new Gorillaz album "Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez" will be released, on which "The Pink Phantom" will also be found with ten other songs. The deluxe version contains a total of 17 tracks.
