On May 29, Elyas M’Barek will be 40 years old. He is one of the most sought-after actors in Germany. These are his best comedies.

Elyas M’Barek (40) became known for his role as Cem Öztürk in “Turkish for Beginners” (2006-2008). In the series he played the 17-year-old who, among other things, pursues the dream of becoming a rapper. Luckily for his fans, M’Barek has stuck to acting. On Sunday (May 29) the audience favorite will be 40 years old and can look back on a successful film career.

For his performance in the ARD series, in which he was seen in three seasons from 2006, the actor won the German television award in the same year in the category “Best Leading Actor Series”. Previously, the Munich native with an Austrian passport appeared in his first feature film “Girls, Girls” in 2001 alongside Diana Amft (46), Karoline Herfurth (38) and Felicitas Woll (42). He already started his career with a comedy. With a few exceptions, the star has remained true to this film genre over the years.

M’Barek conquers women’s hearts in macho roles

After celebrating success with his role as a macho, he was able to prove his skills once again in the “Turkish for Beginners” film. The story was reopened for it. Cem and Lena (Josefine Preuss, 36) get to know and love each other again after a plane crash on a lonely island. Also in “Heiter bis cloudig” M’Barek would do anything in his role as Can to get the next girl to bed. For this he and his friend Tim (Max Riemelt, 38) play cancer patients. The scam works until Tim falls in love with Marie (Anna Fischer, 35), who takes care of her sick sister.

In “Fack ju Göhte” his role also pretends to be someone else. In order to get his buried stolen goods, M’Barek, alias Zeki Müller, applies to work as a substitute teacher at the Goethe Comprehensive School. During his work he not only messes with his students, but also with Lisi Schnabelstedt (Karoline Herfurth). After falling in love with his colleague in the first part of the film series, he goes on a school trip with his students in the second part. In the third and last part, Zeki takes his students through the Abitur without having one himself.

He also shows his sensitive side in front of the camera

Elyas M’Barek has also shown many other sides in front of the camera. Herfurth was also seen in “Traumfrauen”, but here he falls in love with Leni (Hannah Herzsprung, 40) as the unsuccessful child star and fortune teller Joseph. In “The Perfect Secret”, the 40-year-old plays Leo, a househusband who apparently likes to look after his children while his wife Carlotta (Karoline Herfurth) earns the money. At a dinner with her friends, the fabric of lies of the two, but also of the others, slowly dissolves.

The runaways

Although M’Barek is known for his comedies, films from other genres have also found success. In the drama “Der Fall Collini” he portrays the inexperienced lawyer Caspar Leinen. He is appointed as a public defender and has to represent a suspected murderer. In the process, he is repeatedly faced with challenges, also because he knew the victim. In the thriller “Who am I – No system is safe” the actor plays a member of the hacker club “CLAY”. Max and his friends have fun with their pseudonyms until the Federal Criminal Police Office and Europol track them down.

His new comedy starts in July

M’Barek plays an actor in the new comedy Liebesdings, which opens in cinemas on July 7th. His role Marvin Bosch is one of the biggest film stars in Germany. After a media scandal, he flees from the journalists and runs into Frieda (Lucie Heinze, 34). She has work concerns and no interest in Marvin. Nevertheless, the two want to save his reputation and Frieda’s theater.
